Japan’s F-2 Jets Arrive in India for Veer Guardian-2026 Air Combat Exercise

The exercise brings the Japanese F-2 jets together with India’s Tejas, Su-30MKI and Rafale fighter aircraft for joint tactical training and air combat exercises. The two sides will also conduct expert exchanges focused on engineering and safety.

Veer Guardian-2026 builds on the 2023 edition of the exercise, which was held in Japan. The ongoing drills underline the deepening defence ties between India and Japan in the Indo-Pacific, with senior leaders from both countries participating in the exercise.

The 14-day engagement from September 9 to 22 will provide the participating forces an opportunity to undertake coordinated air combat training, exchange expertise and strengthen operational cooperation. The arrival of Japan’s F-2 jets at Jodhpur marks the latest phase of the bilateral exercise, bringing Indian and Japanese air assets together for the joint drills.
